Rick's years in the practice of law have allowed him to gain extensive and valuable experience in the courtroom. When the drug problem in Jasper County crossed state lines and became too big for local law enforcement to handle on its own, Rick sought help from the Federal Government through the offices of the Drug Enforcement Administration, commonly known as the DEA. In return, the Federal government sought Rick's help by appointing him as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Ultimately, the case involved not only the DEA but also the FBI, the IRS, and almost all branches of local law enforcement resulting in hundreds of arrests and convictions.
